The second annual Community Book Read is in full swing. Events for this week are: Monday, October 17th, 6:30pm – book discussion with high school teacher Brad Feick at 52 Stafford; and Wednesday, October 19th, 6:30pm – showing of PBS’ “The Boys of ’36” with a question/answer time after the showing [featuring Plymouth’s two-time Olympian medalist in men’s rowing – Beau Hoopman] at Plymouth High School. This year’s book read title is, “The Boys in the Boat”, written by Daniel James Brown. The book is about the 1936 Olympic men’s rowing team from the USA, who won the gold medal against many odds. Copies of the book are available at the library, or for purchase at Bookheads bookstore in Plymouth. Plan to attend both events, even if you have not read the book yet.
This Friday, October 21, is “no-school Friday” at the library. In addition to crafts, board games, puzzles, and a scavenger hunt available throughout the day [9 am to 4:30 pm], we will be showing the movie, “Ice Age 5: Collision Course” at 10 am. A snack will be provided during the movie. The movie lasts approximately 1.5 hours, and is rated PG, so an adult must stay in the room with children under the age of 12. Come and enjoy time at the library on this no-school Friday.
LEGO club meets at the library on Saturday, October 22, at 10:30 am. If you are ages 6 to 12, come and enjoy an hour of creating with LEGOs. We supply the LEGOs, you supply the creativity. All completed creations are on display in the children’s area of the library until the next meeting.
