The last day to turn in summer reading extra challenge sheets and teen bingo cards is Saturday, August 27th. NOTE: the library is open until NOON on Saturday, so you will need to turn in all sheets and cards by that time in order to get credit for your reading.
The monthly LEGO club program will be on Saturday, August 27th, from 10:30 to 11:30 am. All kids ages 6 to 12 are invited. We provide the LEGOs, you provide the creativity! Your creations will be displayed in the library until the next LEGO club program.
The 2nd annual community book read will begin on Friday, October 15th. Get an early start by coming to the library to check out this year’s selection, “The Boys in the Boat”, by Daniel J. Brown. Copies are now available – the standard published version, a large type version, and a young adult version. The book is about the 1936 American Olympic men’s rowing team who won the gold medal against all odds in Berlin, Germany. Friday, October 15th’s opening event for the community book read will feature Ginny Gilder, author of “Course Correction”. Ginny is an Olympic silver medalist in women’s rowing and her book is about rowing, and so much more. Copies will be available soon. Many other events are being planned for this year’s book read, among them, a day with Beau Hoopman, Plymouth’s own Olympic medalist in rowing. Watch for details, and in the meantime, start reading!
